„The Unusual Voices“ tells the story of Colombian Orinoquia settle farmers. It is a story of exodus and migrations through the jungle and the Eastern foothills. Roads opened with machetes and wandered with paddles, where stories of violence have been woven, but also stories of resistance and dignity. A story that, after all, is the story of the forgotten peripheries of an entire country: the other.
Colombia. This documentary (1h 9m) was filmed during the Colombia Science and Peace 2017 Expedition, performed after the signing of the peace agreement between the Government and the FARC guerrillas. It shows the story of a region of the country, told through the main characters lenses. Starting from their first colonization’s back in the 50’s; going through the arrival of armed actors, illegal prosperity and an effervescent violence; and finishing with the ongoing realities where the peace agreements, in principle hopeful but then unfinished, left these regions filled with uncertainty and abandonment. A region filled with natural, cultural and human wealth, but that now more than ever is at risk of disappearing.
